After finishing college I had a difficult time finding a job in my field. I was approached by my high school math teacher who urged me to apply for a position as a substitute math teacher for at least 6 months. I applied and got the job. Since all of my siblings were teachers, I decided to apply for a full time position, but since I didn't have the proper qualifications I didn't get the job.
